Turns out the best kind of lost media comes with guitar riffs. In 2024, the long-missing 16mm reels from Tom Petty’s world resurface in Cameron Crowe’s first film, „Heartbreakers Beach Party“. It documents 1982-1983 and the „Long After Dark“ cycle. Not in a museum way, more like: studio time, promo chaos, then tour mode hitting full volume. The footage originally aired on MTV in 1983.
